Overview

Metalman wanted to depart from their branding with a new series of beers.

Metalman Brewing Company, a microbrewery based in Waterford City, Ireland, wanted to create a special series of space-themed beers with labels that deviated from their typical branding.

I created a brand system and applied it to the can packaging designs.

Vintage travel posters and retrofuturism were my jumping off point. Inspired by the simple, bold shapes of these designs, I decided to take geometry to the max and recreate each flavor's namesake phenomenon out of circles and lines. I also designed a version of Metalman's logo in a style that better fit the new series.

The client commissioned more designs after the success of the first run.

The initial series of intergalactic beers only had three flavors. They were such a hit that the client created three more flavors and commissioned three more designs to match.
